4-29-14 Where Your Treasure Is (a Sonnet)

In god we trust

Before you two great treasures within reach;

one worldly with its gold and all that brings,

the other God’s pure Spirit here to teach.

Choose wisely which to store among your things.

The world demands that you insure your wealth,

lest thief or nature take all that you own.

It seeks to cover auto, house and health,

but earthly goods you’ll find are just on loan.

Instead, insure eternity with God

with scripture, prayer and living more like Christ.

Be grateful for the paths He bids you trod;

the pearls of heav’nly wisdom can’t be priced.

For where your treasure is, so is your heart.

Be rich in God’s pure Spirit; ne’er depart.

“For where your treasure is,

there will your heart be also.”

Luke 12:34
