5-5-14 Trust in the Lord (an Acrostic Sonnet)

There are those times when sin just brings you down,

Removing all illusions of your growth.

Until this moment you saw glory’s crown;

Sin makes you think you’ve killed your solemn oath.

Then fear slips in: you’ve lost salvation’s flood;

Instead of Heaven’s joy you’ll burn in Hell.

Now if you are God’s child through the blood

True sorrow for your sin will finally tell.

His Mercy is assured if you repent and turn; [i]

Entrust salvation to the Lord of Lords. [ii]

Let not your heart be troubled with concern;

On God alone lay faith for your rewards.

Rely on God and not your faulty mind;

Depend on His sweet love – your hearts’ entwined.

[i] “…Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out, that seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, …” Acts 3:19

[ii] Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding…” Proverbs 3:5
