Now that you’ve come from that rugged cross
And left your sins up there on Calvary,
Now that the sting of death is at a loss,
And Jesus is the only face you see,
No longer are you subject to the law
That governed over Adam until now;
No longer sin has trapped you in it’s maw,
No longer made you slave behind the plow.
You are now under grace that won’t accuse,
Regenerating Christ inside of you;
If you should sin it’s only if you choose,
For Satan has no power to pursue.
You’ve come down off the cross under God’s grace;
Christ died for you that you might win the race.

For sin shall not have dominion over you:
for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 6:14 KJV
If it were not for grace,
I would not be writing in response
to this lovely forthright gracious sonnet.
