1-6-15 On Parenting

parents and children

Good manners start at home when we are young,

And there is taught responsibility.

We are instructed how to mind our tongue,

And also shown reliability.

Our parents should have trained you how to be

A balanced, helpful member of the earth,

And if they did we all might surely see

That you were raised up well by them from birth.

Prepare a child the way that he should go

And as he ages he won’t part from it;

The way a man acts now will likely show

The things his folks did not or did permit.

If you did not grow up with care and love,

Look to the Word these things from God above.

Train up a child in the way he should go:

and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6 KJV

Yes, we reflect our parents ‘teaching’ but unfortunately we say, ‘Do it this way’. and then do it that way. We need lead by example.
Training a child in the way he should go is a huge responsibility so that we do not squelch the person that GOD wants to use for HIS good plans, bright hope and future.
Many things were squelched in me before I left home and now I tend to live a more child like and sometimes childish behaviour than perhaps is righteous. (part of this childishness is from brain injuries, I am told). Praise GOD that I am reading HIS WORD and have the MIND of CHRIST now! 1Corinthians 2:16; and have a sound mind 2Timothy 1:6,7 because it is being transformed daily Romans 12:3 AMEN
