4-8-15 How Great You Are!

As far as we can see are galaxies,

Yet when our eyes look to things very small

The atoms mirrors galaxies with ease,

And wonder fills our spirits and enthral.

O Lord, how great Your works in everything!

The flea, the sun, the rose, the forest deep.

Amazing more the insights that You bring;

How great Your thoughts, the wisdom that You keep!

You’ve known us since before we came to be;

Can look into the hearts of all at once.

The secrets of the universe You see!

The smartest of us all is just a dunce.

I dare consider all Thy hands have made,

That You can just say “BE” and it’s displayed!

12-7-14 Nowhere

Your spirit dwells within my blood and breath,

And binds the fabric of the universe.

You guide my birth and hold my hand in death,

And every moment in between traverse.

Your omnipresence guides the wind of change;

You mark the path of elephant and ant.

You move the atom, set the mountain range,

You make the tree frog peep, the monk to chant.

Where could I go to get away from You?

You’re even in my very soul and mind.

No matter where I run You are there, too.

There is no place to go that you can’t find.

Why would I ever want to run at all?

My God, forever more You are my all!

10-14-14 Wonderfully Made

If I spoke all the seconds of my days

I could not apt describe the human form,

For ev’ry cell and fibre does amaze;

The learned best feel wonder at the norm.

Exquisite is the mind, and even now

No one can understand the thoughts of man,

But I of hope and faith can thus avow

That through Your love and grace so I began.

O Father, how I’m awed by all You’ve done!

How You can make the atom and a star!

I once was a creation, now a son;

Christ’s sacrifice transformed my soul by far.

So marvelous Your works both great and small,

Yet You are greater still, over it all.
