11-23-15 On Spiritual Maturity
I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
John 16:12 KJV
~~~~~~~~~~~
When you were born you could not handle meat:
You had no teeth to chew, your stomach frail.
You had to start with milk, so warm and sweet,
And then work up to solid food in scale.
Don’t take up calculus if you can’t count,
Don’t write a book if you can’t spot a noun.
The heavy doctrine truths aren’t tantamount
To learning how your sins can drag you down.
If Jesus told you things you could not bear
Your soul would be too feeble to digest.
The Holy Ghost guides teachers to prepare
The food of Spirit that you can ingest.
Don’t be afraid to ask, but don’t forget,
The Savior may tell you “Not now; not yet.”
1-9-14 That Secret Room
The dirty, homeless man that walks the street,
That mumbles to himself with fetid breath,
He is the kind of man you’d never meet,
The kind you’d never mourn upon his death.
Yet he consorts with angels evey day,
His heart’s as pure and white as untouched snow.
Then there’s the handsome man above the fray,
The kind of fellow we all love and know,
With such a voice that captivates the crowds
And smells like fragrant flowers full in bloom.
The Lord can see beneath their mortal shrouds
And knows what’s in their hearts, that secret room.
We judge a book by how its cover reads
But God knows how the story ends, indeed.
~~~~~~~~~~~
For the LORD seeth not as man seeth;
for man looketh on the outward appearance,
but the LORD looketh on the heart.
1 Samuel 16:7 KJV
11-15-14 Reflections
You see your own reflection when you look
Into a mirror or a windless lake,
So who you are reads often like a book
When others see the face your heart does make.
You cannot fake the Spirit’s countenance;
It shines from every atom of your form,
And if you lack the Light a soul can sense
No matter what you do you just perform.
The heart reflects the person that you are:
A child of God is known when first you meet;
We fool ourselves believing we’re a star
But wiser men can see our own conceit.
Surrender who you are to Christ right now
And let His light reflect upon your brow.
~~~~~~~~~~~
As in water face answereth to face,
so the heart of man to man.
Proverbs 27:19 KJV
