12-8-15 The Strait and Narrow

hayward-narrow-way

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Matthew 7:13-14 KJV

THE STRAIT AND NARROW

The path to Heaven’s like a razors edge,

‘Twill shred your flesh to ribbons on the way.

Too few will walk this fine and narrow ledge,

This sacrifice of self, no room to sway.

Then strait ahead is Jesus; He’s the gate.

There is no other way to get inside.

His blood will cover you, your sins negate

As you walk through the Door to then abide.

But many choose the wide and easy road;

The company is gay and jubilant

But leads to sinful ruin and Hell’s abode

Where all you hear is weeping and lament.

Eternal life is found through Christ alone.

You must go through the gate to reach the throne.

2-5-15 Eating with Sinners

The Savior came to Earth with one real goal,

To save us sinners from our helpless state.

In order for the Lord to make us whole

He had to sit with us and share our plate.

If Christ had wanted, He’d have climbed the throne

And saved His people from the Roman rule,

But He had bigger plans, to thus atone

For all our sins upon the cross so cruel.

So here He was, our God, the great I AM,

Receiving sinners in His company.

He lived among us as the perfect Lamb;

He gave His life for us to set us free.

If you surround yourself with Christian kind

How can you help the Savior heal the blind?

And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying,

This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

Luke 15:2 KJV

11-1-14 Friend

Friend-with-Jesus-clear

I’d rather have your friendship than the world,

For in your company I have no need;

Both time and space may stop and come unfurled,

But when I am with you my soul is freed.

No greater love exists than yours, my friend;

You gave your life so I might have it, too.

You said you’ll be with me until the end,

And from your blood eternity then grew.

You live within the form of others here;

I feel your presence when I talk with them.

They’re closer than my family, twice as dear,

More precious than the most expensive gem.

You are my Friend, my Savior and my King,

You’re Christ my Lord, the One in everything.

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly:

and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
