2-10-16 Be Like Jesus

compassion1

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

Colossians 3:12 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, having taken off the old man’s guise,
Put on the mind of Christ who died for you,
Whom now you are elect of God likewise,
Both holy and beloved and tried and true.
With deep compassion free from all deceit
To sympathize with those who are distressed,
Let kindness, grace and love be so complete
You weep with them who weep, sincere expressed.
Have humbleness of mind in thought and deed,
Be gentle with all men and always meek;
Submissive to the Spirit so proceed,
And dwell in patience; suffer long the weak.
Christ took the weight of sin from off your soul.
Now be just like the One who made you whole.
~~~~~~~~~~~

REMEMBER: Christ lives in you now. Let Him live through you.

9-25-15 The Perfect Example

JESUS-carrying-cross

21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

1 Peter 2:21-25 KJV

There is no greater love than Christ has shown,

The perfect model for a perfect life,

Who chose to leave His bright celestial throne

To come and save His sheep through pain and strife.

He had no sin Himself but came for ours,

Enduring all the wrath of God and man,

Who could have freed Himself with awesome powers

But chose to bring salvation as His plan,

And all the torment that our Lord endured,

Reviled, threatened, beaten, crucified,

He did for you so you could be secured.

He loved you so He suffered, bled and died.

O friend, I know He thought of you that day

As He was hanging on the cross that way!

12-20-14 Cleave to That Which is Good

father_son

Adhere to all that’s good and wise and true

And you will walk alone more times than not.

Do not let others tell you what to do

If it runs counter to the things Christ taught.

In all the waking moments of your day

Be grateful with a heart that’s full of love.

Conduct yourself upright in work or play

And be sincere to man and God above.

Avoid all things that compromise the Word

For they will lead you off the narrow way.

When evil tempts you still be undeterred;

With Jesus on your side you won’t dismay.

Stay full of love, let Jesus be your guide.

Trust Him alone, He’s always by your side.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Let love be without dissimulation (Deceit).
Abhor that which is evil;
cleave to that which is good.
Romans 12:9 KJV
9-23-14 On Deception
carnival-barker
Be wary of the man who says he knows
Another path to God without our Christ,
And sin is nothing more than bogus throes,
Religion just another phony heist.
Deceit is ev’rywhere by Satan’s hand
And spread by those believing all his lies;
Distracting God’s own children as is planned
With promises of Heaven in disguise.
Stay focused on the Saviour through your day;
With constant prayer seek strength and courage, too.
God’s judgment will cause all the frauds dismay
When they find out their certainty’s untrue.
Whatever lures you from the narrow path
Will soon incur the burden of God’s wrath.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Let no man deceive you with vain words:

for because of these things cometh the wrath of God

upon the children of disobedience.

Ephesians 5:6 KJV

6-15-14 Dirge #11 – Slanderers

slanderer

“She runs around on him every night,” the girl whispered to all of her friends;

The lies that she told spread much faster than fire though the woman worked nights to contend.

Beware, rumor monger, the truth do you plunder!

Deceit is your game, sowing lies meant to maim;

Such falsehoods will tear you asunder!

“He does abortions, that doctor right there,” said the man from the side of his mouth;

He wanted to slander the good doctor’s name just because the man hailed from the South.

Beware with your slur, God’s wrath you’ll incur!

Your words vilify, the facts you belie;

You’ll be cast out like some loathsome burr!

“Look at that pastor, I know he does drugs,” murmured she at the back of the church;

Her dishonesty cost him his status and job all because of her slanderous smirch.

Go away from our midst, you’ll never be missed!

Hell will be your next home, you’ll eternally roam;

That’s your fate lest you cease and desist!

Repent from your sins, surrender your will, look to Jesus and start to believe;

Admit you’re a sinner and go to the cross, that’s the one place you’ll get a reprieve.

A slanderous tongue turns the truth into dung;

It is better that you slice your tongue through and through!

1 “But know this: Difficult times will come in the last days.

2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud,

blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,

3 unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self control,

brutal, without love for what is good,

4 traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasures

rather than lovers of God,

5 holding to the form of godliness but denying its power.

Avoid these people!”
