7-22-15 With All Your Life

This is my commandment,

That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

John 15:12 KJV

The world is filled with malice, hate and scorn,

And every day is darker than the last,

But don’t despair, it is not time to mourn,

Just love your fellow man despite his caste.

The Savior loves you more than you can know,

He died for all your sins upon the cross.

If you love one another you will grow

To better understand His pain and loss.

If you show love to everyone you meet,

And give without a thought of some return,

The love of Christ in you is more complete,

And love begets more love with less concern.

This is the Lord’s command, that you should love

With all your life, as Jesus has above.

1-14-15 Know It All

If God can count the hairs upon your head,

And see the sparrow as it falls to earth,

He also fathoms everything you’ve said,

Without exception knows your thoughts since birth.

There is not anything that God can’t do;

He sees within your heart, your soul, your mind.

He understands your essense through and through

And loves you just the same when cruel or kind.

Don’t be afraid to learn God knows it all;

He cares for you despite your every wart.

If you but listen you can hear His call:

“Come Home,” He says “My Son is your escort.”

Just take His hand, my friend, and you will find

Your thoughts and ways will soon become refined.

12-26-14 Be First to Love

If God did love us so He sent His Son

To be a sacrifice for all our sins,

Then we should love each other barring none,

And those who understand it best begins,

For we should not just sit around and wait

Until the other fellow loves us first,

For that is just as bad as open hate.

All those who wait to drink will die of thirst.

God loves us so despite our wicked way;

Lord knows that we deserve eternal hell.

Begin to love your enemy today

If you should ever hope to Heaven dwell.

My friends, love one another without pause

By loving one another without cause.

12-21-14 You Know Me

You see into the shadows of my soul.

You know me better than I know myself.

You stretch me out and read me like a scroll.

You’ve found the secrets on my secret shelf.

To think of all you’ve seen me say and do,

Makes me ashamed in my unworthiness.

I can’t get small enough to hide from You.

O Lord, accuse me now and I’ll confess!

Yet even though You know me through and through,

You love me still regardless of my sin.

You sent Your Son to save the world, it’s true,

And saved a wretch like me in my chagrin.

Unworthy though I am You love me so,

You must see something in me I don’t know.
