9-26-15 The Final Authority

For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.

Isaiah 33:22 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~
While here you should obey the worldly laws,
For here you lay upon your earthly bed,
But if they clash with Spirit give them pause,
For Christ is your authority and head.
The laws that Jesus gives are Spirit born,
Yet they impact each aspect of your life.
He is your Lord and King when you’re reborn;
He is your final judge through stress and strife.
When you obey God’s laws instead of man’s,
You might incur the wrath of earthly judge,
But prison may be part of God’s own plans,
So always listen to the Spirit’s nudge.
The Lord will save your soul – man’s laws cannot.
You’ll still be His when all that’s mortal rots.
9-14-15 A House Not Made With Hands
rebirth
For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2 Corinthians 5:1 KJV
The end of life is not the end of life
For those whose faith is in the Son of God.
This earthly body’s filled with pain and strife
To crumble one day like a poor facade.
But we will not despair when that day comes;
You’ll see us smile upon our final breath.
The moment we’re evicted from the slums
We move into a mansion void of death.
In this eternal home not made with hands,
We’ll tarry in the presence of the Lord.
The family of the Spirit understands
This glorious domain’s our first reward.
Don’t grieve when we escape this earthen shell.
Our new estate’s in heaven – there we dwell.
9-2-15 Consider the Lilies
28 And why take ye thought for raiment?
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Matthew 6:28-29 KJV
~~~~~~~~~~~

We worry far too much on earthly things,

The ones of us who are not destitute,

And even indigents and poor who clings

Don’t walk around in their own birthday suit.

We color coordinate, accessorize,

Buy far too many shoes for our two feet,

And then we walk the mall with googly eyes,

And notice what is worn by those we meet.

Just step out side, the wildest flower calls

To show you what the Lord has dressed them in,

And O! their perfect beauty shames the malls,

Yet neither do they work, nor do they spin.

The more time that you spend on what to wear

Is less time that is spent absorbed in prayer.

1-13-15 God or Bust

rickety

Unless the Lord is present count it dead

Whatever that is built with human hands;

It may exist a thousand years ahead

But might as well be built with desert sand.

A city that’s forgotten God is doomed

Like Sodom and Gormorrah full of sin;

Then soon by wickedness it is consumed,

As dead inside as though it’s never been.

Invite the Lord to sanction all you do,

And let His Spirit guide your heart and mind;

The earthly things that honor God are true,

And all without His love will fall behind.

Let God build both your church and family,

And everywhere you go, there He will be.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Except the LORD build the house,
they labour in vain that build it:
except the LORD keep the city,
the watchman waketh but in vain.
Psalm 127:1 KJV
1-12-15 Dark Nights
dark night
A homesick ache will sometimes strike my soul,
A  tired longing from all earthly bonds;
Then there are moments when I doubt the goal,
A skepticism of the great beyond.
When faith grows weak, I turn to God in mind
In hopes that He will hear my weakened prayer,
And groan in spirit, feeling unrefined,
To save me from my anguish and despair.
Then quietly my pleas turn into praise,
A subtle shift from fear to gratitude;
With just a touch from Him my spirits raise,
My heart grows lighter, larger and renewed.
When melancholy brings me to my knees
I put my faith in Christ; He won’t displease
~~~~~~~~~~~

Why art thou cast down, O my soul?

and why art thou disquieted within me?

hope thou in God:

for I shall yet praise him,

who is the health of my countenance,

and my God.

Psalm 42:11 KJV

10-1-14 Walking in Uprightness

Wealth

Tis better to be poor in worldly sense,

Not worried for his earthly furnishings.

Though poor, he is not sitting on the fence

Obsessed about the status that wealth brings.

A poor man tries to keep a simple vow,

And sometimes failing, works to make it right.

A money hungry man will scarce allow

His word to be his bond and live forthright.

The poor have conscience void of hidden plan,

And keeps a simple life with love for God.

The rich wants more than when they first began,

And keeps it complicated as a fraud.

A poor man lets the Saviour rule his life

Instead of mortal things and all its strife.

~~~~~
Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness,
than he that is perverse in his ways,
though he be rich.
Proverbs 28:6 KJV
8-27-14 Keeping It Real
the cross
It’s tempting to show just how much you know
About the world and all such earthly things,
But this you know is only so much show
Compared to Jesus Christ, the King of Kings.
When you relate the gospel keep it pure
As Christ’s salvation to the souls of men:
Atonement through His blood you can be sure,
And gave His life for all your sins, amen.
So concentrate on Jesus, Son of God;
Don’t let your worldly knowledge make you stray.
This moment may be all you have to laud
The sacrifice He made for them that day.
            Evangelize to all about the cross;
            Temporal education’s mostly dross.
For I determined not to know any thing among you,
save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
1 Corinthians 2:2 KJV
