1-16-16 Beware the Man

angry

3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words,even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

1 Timothy 6:3-5 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~
Beware the man who quarrels with the Word,
Who picks at tiny things and contradicts,
Who makes a show to have his feelings stirred,
Displaying traits the Spirit sure convicts.
He thinks that if you claim it, it is yours,
Especially the things that money buys;
He’ll tell a dirty joke beyond church doors
And never seems to look you in the eyes.
Stay far away as possible, my friend,
For all your wholesome words fall on deaf ears.
Associate with him to no good end;
He is a scourge among his friends and peers.
If Jesus isn’t in his repertoire,
The only thing to say is au revoir.
REMEMBER: Pray for the contentious, but avoid them whenever possible.
3-13-15 Matters of the Heart
honesty
If you feel love express it openly,
For it’s a precious gem that must be shared,
But love that’s locked away lives brokenly
Just like a bird that’s caged too long turns scared.
Be honest with your feelings all the time
And you won’t have to worry what to say;
The matters of the heart are so sublime,
One little lie in love leads truth astray.
The love you have for God and Christ and man
Should be more than the words you can express.
Beyond the tongue are deeds and truth that can
Reveal more than a million words profess.
Hypocrisy in love destroys the soul;
If this is you, pray Jesus make you whole.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Let love be without dissimulation.

Romans 12:9 KJV

2-19-15 On Anger

anger

An angry disposition is unwise;

It’s easy to achieve and hard to lose,

And always seems to linger in disguise

To take away the feelings you might choose.

If you are quick to anger learn to pray,

For something boils within and won’t let go,

And if you bare your soul to God today

You’ll get the aid you need to make wrath slow.

The Lord may lead you to a wiser friend

Who listens with a heart that’s God inclined;

Perhaps a counselor to help you mend,

To find the root of rage that’s had you blind.

If you stay angry, take it to the Lord;

His love will heal you and get peace restored.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry:
for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.
Ecclesiastes 7:9 KJV
