12-1-15 The Haves and Have-Nots

For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

THE HAVES AND HAVE–NOTS

The light of Christ distinctly shines from you,

And as He grows within it will shine more.

The means of grace and knowledge blessed to few

In time shall be much richer than before.

And O! the love that burns within your soul

Increases til that’s all you will become,

But those that lack the fire true and whole

Will smolder, growing colder, then succumb.

Like Judas they may seem at first one saved,

Yet one day be revealed for their facade.

They’re kind upon the surface, well behaved,

But with no real salvation just a fraud.

To those that have is given more and more;

To those that don’t there’s no accounting for.

Call Now

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Acts 2:21 KJV

It’s not too late to call upon the Lord,

Though you’re not promised you’ll be here tonight.

Your body’s death is coming; you’ll be floored,

And then it’s just too late to get it right.

The final days are here as you well know:

The Spirit of the Lord on flesh is poured,¹

Now prophesies and visions really flow,

And old men dream of things that once were stored.

Such wonders in the heavens oft explored,²

And signs upon the earth with blood and fire;

The sun grows dark, the blood moon’s not ignored,³

The Lord will soon return, His own acquire.

If you don’t know the Savior, Now’s the time!

Tomorrow might not come, but Now is prime!

10-1-15 Heart Burn

And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

Luke 24:32 KJV

The fire of the Lord should burn your heart,

And if it doesn’t, you’re not close enough.

You have to be as one, not just take part;

Communion with the Lord is sturdy stuff

Consume the Word, that fiery flame of truth

Until the Holy Spirit sears your soul.

Remember all the passion of your youth?

This burning makes the past a winter stroll.

If you’re afraid the fire has gone out,

Just breathe the name of Jesus and repeat.

You’ll feel the heat begin, there is no doubt;

His Presence is a blaze that won’t deplete.

You know the Savior’s walking next to you;

His love is burning in your heart so true.

9-6-15 You’re Being Watched

And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

When you go through this day do not forget

The light of Christ is shining through your deeds,

And others see there’s something special yet,

In all you say and do a peace proceeds.

Remember that to most you represent

The closest thing to Jesus they will know.

Those hungry for the Word will soon relent

To find out what it is that makes you go.

When Jesus lives through you it surely shows,

Especially the moments love’s revealed.

The Holy Spirit is affirmed in those

Who feel the fire and begin to yield.

You have a deep responsibility

To serve the Lord and act as His trustee.

6-23-15 Heart Burn

And they said one to another,

To walk with Jesus while Emmaus bound,

And listen as He opened scriptures wide!

To hear Him speak the mysteries profound;

My heart ablaze with Jesus by my side!

Amazing as it was that awesome day,

How truly wonderful it must have been,

My soul still leaps with joy with such display,

Just knowing that His presence grows within!

Here dwells the Holy Spirit like a fire,

It burns with love I scarcely can contain!

The Savior speaks and fuels my one desire

To do the will of God and thus remain.

His fiery words are whispered in my ear,

And that’s the only voice I truly hear.

6-3-15 Fire and Power

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:

and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea,

and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Before the Lord rose up into the clouds,

He spoke to His disciples full of love

About the Holy Ghost they’d be endowed,

And His great power come from up above.

When you accept the Savior as your Lord,

Believing that He died for all your sin,

The Holy Ghost will come with one accord

And enter you with power deep within.

Then in this fire you know that He is real,

That Jesus lives within you heart and soul.

The Holy Ghost abides in you with zeal;

You’ll tell the world how Christ has made you whole.

The power that rose Jesus from the grave

Resides within you like a tidal wave

3-14-15 A Better Man

You’ve joined this mighty chorus for one cause,

To worship God and praise His name on high,

With prayer and hymn and joyful loud applause

Until you cannot help but testify!

The Spirit of the Lord is present now,

A fire burning bright within your heart,

And now you stand with light upon your brow,

A new creation here to do your part!

Don’t hesitate to lift your voice and sing,

For you’ve been turned into a better man!

A living testimony of God’s plan!

2-4-15 Do Well

Religion tends to make so many laws

Both out of fear or power gone amok,

Before you know it, it has got its claws

Into your home with its judicial muck.

It’s quite one thing to heed the word of God,

But not to legislate the word to death.

The ways of man are volatile and flawed;

God gave us sense enough to take a breath.

The Sabbath day’s for resting, this is true,

But if you have a flat, then change the tire.

Don’t show up just for church and take a pew;

If next door’s up in flames, put out the fire!

The Holy Ghost should be your first real guide;

Just practice listening – He won’t misguide.

that shall have one sheep,

and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day,

will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?

¹² How much then is a man better than a sheep?

Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

12-28-14 Give

If all we had to do was give in alms,

How easy it would be to give at all,

We could go down the line of upturned palms

Then spend the day just hanging at the mall.

But each of us are different in our heart;

We don’t all have the means in wealth to give,

So let us do our best and do our part

To help each other up so we can live.

If you give ten percent of what you earn

Unto the Lord, you’ve made your tithe today,

But kindling starts the fire – to make it burn

Use everything you’ve got without delay.

Considering what Jesus sacrificed,

We should give all we have: our all, like Christ.

Temper, Temper

If you can’t curb your temper or your tongue

How can you be entrusted with the Word?

The devil will provoke you with his dung

Until you lose control with anger stirred.

You can’t control what others say and do,

And none can make you feel a certain way.

With prayer and discipline you can get to

Restraint in what you do and what you say.

Increase your love for God until it glows,

Til humbleness replaces selfish ways.

The spirit of the Lord both thrives and grows

Within an attitude of faith and praise.

Compassion cools the fire before it burns,

And patience settles in when temper turns.
