2-26-16 Seeking Riches

greed

But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

1 Timothy 6:9 KJV

           ~~~~~~~~~~~
Too much can not be said about the sin
Of seeking to be rich above all else,
For when the lust for gold within begin,
The love of God and Christ most surely melts.
A strong foundation builds a sturdy house,
So let the Rock of Ages cleft for you,
But if you build on greed you then espouse
The love for worldly things you should eschew.
A foolish man will do some hurtful things
In order to obtain abundant wealth.
It’s hard to stem the selfishness this brings
And easy to forget supernal health.
           Put all your faith in Heaven’s Kingdom now
           Don’t let the love of riches strike your brow.
           ~~~~~~~~~~~

REMEMBER: Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matthew 6:19-21 KJV)

2-5-16 Built on Sand

HouseOntheSand1

26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Matthew 7: 26-27 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~
How many of us like a foolish man
Who listens to the Word and nods his head,
But keeps instead his own distorted plan
And builds his house without foundation bed.
Just knowing Christ’s commands is not enough;
He needs to be within our hands and feet.
A fancy car without four tires rides rough;
A house built on the sand the floods defeat.
If Jesus is your Lord, then serve Him well;
A servant is no good laid up in bed.
When trouble comes all you can do is yell.
The storms of life will tear your house to shreds.
A tree with meager roots is doomed to fall;
The first time winds descend the tree will sprawl.
~~~~~~~~~~~

REMEMBER: A strong foundation is built by exercising the will of Christ.

1-12-16 Speaking Of

conversation

Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Colossians 4:6 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~
May every word proceeding from your lips
Be spoken as if Christ is next to you.
Beware of foolish talk and vulgar rips
Or doublespeak that might be misconstrued.
Instead let grace be voiced to every man,
With all sincerity and prudent truth,
And let it be as savory as you can
Without an angry edge or as uncouth.
When you let Spirit tell you what to say,
The mind of Christ with love will manifest,
So learn to be in tune the prayerful way,
And both you and the hearer will be blessed.
As salt brings taste be tasteful in your speech.
The Savior’s words are well within your reach.
~~~~~~~~~~~

REMEMBER: When you are in accord with Jesus, He will speak through you.

1-7-16 On Discipline

hand_heart

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Psalm 19:14 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~
With faith disciples of the Lord do live,
Yet recognize responsibilities,
To love their neighbor and to quick forgive,
To represent the Lord by all degrees.
In common conversation speak your mind,
But make sure that your mind’s the mind of Christ.
No foolish, idle, vulgar words in kind;
Just speak the gospel truth and be sufficed.
The mind is like a monkey in a cage;
If it’s not on a leash it’s Satan’s pet.
With scripture and in silent prayer your gauge,
The mind of Christ will be your best asset.
The Lord is your redeemer and your strength;
Your thoughts and words should be in His wavelength.
~~~~~~~~~~~

REMEMBER: Keep your thoughts and words on Jesus; lean on the Holy Spirit for guidance, comfort and understanding.

9-28-15 Foolish and Weak

marius

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

1 Corinthians 1:25 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~
The wisdom of the ages gapes and drools
Compared to just a single word from God,
And all the things they teach in all the schools
Is nothing more than drivel dim and flawed.
If you should seek to know the mind of Christ,
Don’t listen to the babble of a sage.
The men who wrote the scriptures were sufficed
To listen to the Lord in every age.
Both men and empires boast about their might;
They strut across the stage of time to die,
And even when their strength is at its height
A bug can bring them down just passing by.
The man of God is neither fool nor weak
When he stands fast and turns the other cheek.
7-28-14 All You Have to Do is Ask
Assortment Of Bizarre Road Signs
Your daily life can be a lion’s den,
For Satan seeks to vex your very soul,
So you need wisdom time and time again
To face the opposition and stay whole.
Reach out to God your Father when in doubt;
You know He longs to give you what you ask.
The wisdom that you seek is there throughout
To move the right way through your current task.
You might be just the one somebody needs,
The nourishment that feeds their hungry heart;
Seek God’s great wisdom first and then proceed
To let His Spirit lead you from the start.
It’s foolish to rely on your own wit;
You’ll lose your way for sure as one unfit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If any of you lack wisdom, you should ask God,

who gives generously to all without finding fault,

and it will be given to you.

James 1:5 NIV

7-1-14 Dirge #16: The Reckless

drunk-driving-high-driving-marijuana

“I know it’s risky, but man it looks fun!” said the young man to all his friends;

He climbed to the top of the tower and danced, ’til he slipped and fell down to his end.

Beware, careless lad, you have died for a fad!

You wasted your life, caused your family great strife,

And destroyed all the futures you had!

“Give me that spice, I’ll just hit it twice,” drawled the woman at the steering wheel,

She then got so high she forgot where she was, and they crashed and died buried in steel.

Beware, reckless fool, headstrong like a mule!

You sure did get higher, now your feet’s in the fire;

What you did was thoughtless and cruel!

“How dare they insult me; let’s go forth to war!” cried the King to the room full of men;

Impulsive and rash, so now thousands were killed; leaders do it again and again.

Go away, you are rash, now two countries are ash!

You have got Hell to pay, and there you will stay

With the others whose teeth grind and gnash!

Head to the cross before it’s too late, lay your burdens at Christ’s perfect feet.

If you seek adventure there’s no better venture than sharing the gospel complete.

There is so much to do for your Saviour it’s true.

Please be careful and wise, let the Spirit advise!

2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, proud,

blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,

3 unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self control,

brutal, without love for what is good,

4 traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasures

rather than lovers of God,

5 holding to the form of godliness but denying its power.

Avoid these people!”

5-31-14 Dirge #6: Disobedience To Parents

rebellious

“You can’t tell me what to do!” the angry girl said to her mother;

she slammed the door in her mom’s sad face and left in the car with some other.

Beware, noxious teen, you’re foolish and willful and wild!

If you lay ’round and curse, you’ll make matters much worse

for it’s a sin to get parents riled!

“I won’t go to school! It’s stupid and lame!” said the young man to his worried father;

he’d rather hang out and get drunk with his friends than listen to dad and be bothered.

Beware, gluttonous boy, you’ll not always have fun!

You’ll turn out a fool if you don’t go to school,

and one day have your own foolish son!

Honor your parents that your days may be long was the first commandment with a pledge;

they want you to follow the ways of the Lord, not to end up on someone’s knife edge.

Obey the advice of your mom and your dad

or be subject to some hell to go through;

choose respect over some passing fad.

Your folks try to train you up as a child in the way that is righteous and true.

You shouldn’t repay them with insolence; they’re doing the best they can do.

Listen to your parent so your life won’t be errant.

Hearken to your parent’s word, don’t grow up evil and absurd.
