5-24-15 Forgive – and Forget

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another,

if any man have a quarrel against any:

even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

Colossians 3:13 KJV

When Jesus taught to pray He said this, too:

“O God, forgive me as I do forgive.”

As simple as it is it’s hard to do;

When someone does us wrong, we must relive.

You can forgive but you just can’t forget;

If that’s the way you want it, let it be.

You want your brother to forget your debt,

But if he owes you more, he’s never free.

As Christ atoned for you on Calvary,

He will not bring it back whene’er you sin.

Forgive and so forget and you’ll be free;

Do not expect the same and you will win.

            If you can so forget the food you ate,

            Don’t let wrongs eat you up, give Christ the plate.

3-28-15 Give Account

The final Judgment Day will come too soon

To those who did not think that it will be,

When every knee shall bow and tongue shall croon

With praises to the Lord for all to see.

Then we shall give account to Christ the judge,

Our secrets all laid bare before the Word,

The lustful thought, the hatred and the grudge,

The curse, the promise broken will be heard.

We’ll also be reminded of the good,

The helping hand, the love, the warm embrace,

The friends we led to Jesus when we could,

The times we were forgiving, full of grace.

We all will give account on Judgment Day.

It’s not too late: get right with Christ today!

1-11-15 Be Kind

Treat all you come across as if your kin

No matter what their attitude to you;

Affection’s manufactured with a grin,

And kindness feeds the heart with love anew.

If you would soon forgive your child’s mistake,

Then do the same for everyone you meet,

For God will soon forgive you for Christ’s sake,

Yet if you pick and choose you’re incomplete.

A man who’s cordial only to his friends

Will miss the need for Christ in stranger’s eyes.

Should we not share the love til journey ends,

And are we not all friends in some disguise?

Be kind to all you meet just as your guest,

It might be you who’s needing to be blessed.

9-24-14 You, O Lord

O Lord, You are the source of all that’s good;

Your good both spans the stars and in our blood.

When I reach out and seek You as I should

Your goodness flows with Mercy like a flood.

Forgiveness is not hard for You to do,

According to the riches of Your Grace.

No sooner asked than had when I am through

The sin that holds me back in ev’ry case.

And when I need You, Lord, You’re always there;

The fullness of Your love sustains my heart.

I always feel Your presence ev’rywhere,

And all my needs are met right from the start.

For You, O Lord, I get down on my knees.

For You, O Lord, I only seek to please.

For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving,

abounding in steadfast love

to all who call upon you.

9-1-14 Follow like a Child

When you choose Christ to be your Lord and King,

Then you become a precious child of God,

Inheriting all that His Love does bring,

Reborn into His Grace, your heart now thawed.

A child will imitate his Father’s ways,

And O! the ways of God are wonderful!

Like Jesus, love all men without delays,

Compassionate, forgiving, bountiful.

You walk in faith across this foreign land,

Aware that God is here to help you through.

Your Father’s wish is always your command,

So follow in the Saviour’s steps so true.

            You are a child of God, and held so dear

            By God your Father; Christ will draw you near.
