2-19-16 Like Night and Day

³ O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. ⁴ Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. ⁵ For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Depression drags your soul into the grave

And whispers that this pit is all there is;

Here hope is gone, here darkness does enslave,

Here death does pierce your heart and claims as his.

It seems as if the Lord has turned away,

As if His anger’s robbed your faith and dream.

But turn around, my friend, please don’t dismay.

He’s never left your side; you’re still a team.

Reach out to Jesus! Life is in His hand;

His love is like the morning over night.

He holds you in His arms, the dark is banned.

God’s grace shines all the time; the future’s bright.

When darkest night of soul weighs down on you,

The dawn is certain: Christ will see you through.

5-5-15 The Love of God

³⁸ For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

³⁹ Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Not life or death will kill His love at all,

Not heaven, earth or hell can end God’s love,

No creature in the sky or earth below.

It’s easier to count the stars above

Than find one thing His love can’t overthrow.

The love of God, through Jesus Christ our Lord,

Is undeniable across the board.

11-13-14 Peaceful Sleep

Your enemies surround me all the day,

Attacking both my body and my mind,

But I’ve no fear amid the constant fray,

For Your protective love has me entwined.

Great evil stalks the land like hungry beast,

Devouring the truth with hate and lies,

But though it lays beside me with its feast,

I share the gospel without compromise.

The past and future rob most men of sleep;

Their troubles run unchecked all through the night,

But Your serenity makes slumber deep;

There is no need to worry in Your sight.

Rest safely in the shelter of the Lord;

Find comfort in His Word, the great reward.

8-29-14 When the Wheels Fall Off Your Cart

It seems right now that things cannot be worse;

The world has turned against you once again.

You wonder if you’ve fallen in a curse,

And where you are is sure not where you’ve been.

The Lord has such big plans for you in store;

He knows exactly what you’re going through.

You will survive this hardship and much more;

One day you’ll understand that this is true.

Do all you can today to remedy

Adversity that seems to block your way.

Have faith that God ere long will set you free;

The storm will pass and lead to brighter day.

            Rejoice, my friend! The Lord is guiding you.

            The darkness falls away when light breaks through.
