9-26-14 Them Who Are Called

troubles

When you obey the Will of God with love

Allowing Christ to live inside of you,

When you submit your life to God above

All things will work together good and true.

This doesn’t mean your wool will turn to silk

Or opposition tucks its tail and runs;

You will have sickness, still of mortal ilk,

Sometimes you’ll find your trials have just begun.

No matter what befalls your troubled life,

God’s spinning all your problems into gold.

He knows the purpose of your pain and strife;

He’s forming you into a sacred mould.

Your suffering is truly not in vain:

Just take the hand of Christ; He will sustain.

And we know that all things work together

for good to them that love God,

to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28 KJV

Worldly Desires

crashing upon the rocks

The glitz that blinds our eyes is gone tonight,

Like flotsam bobbing on a tempest sea,

And precious wealth today will soon be trite;

The thirsty ride the waves in constant spree.

This world is always drifting, always new,

Yet most of us desire what we can’t reach,

And only when we shift our point of view

Do we perceive a lighthouse on the beach.

God’s will is done by those who see the light

Then tell their fellow man the way back home.

Without the beacon in their line of sight

They crash upon the rocks beneath the foam.

The will of God will surely set you free,

Let Jesus be your Guide upon the sea.

And the world passeth away,

and the lust thereof:

but he that doeth the will of God

abideth for ever.

                1 John 2:17 KJV

9-2-14 Lord, Lord

hypocrite 01

Not ev’ryone who says they love God does;

Their heart is just as empty as their word.

They say the things you want to hear because

They want to be accepted and preferred.

They circumnavigate God’s will and way

To serve their own agenda and desire.

Don’t be misled by them and what they say;

Have faith in Jesus only, not a liar.

Draw near to God in prayer, His will be done;

Let Jesus be your guide, you can’t go wrong.

Submit your life to Christ, God’s precious Son,

And let Him take you Home where you belong.

            Not all who call Him Lord will be let in,

            Just those who let the Lamb erase their sin.

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord,

shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;

 but he that doeth the will of my Father

which is in heaven.

Matthew 7:21 KJV

8-9-14 In the Storm

stormy sea by alex linde

The world is filled with evil ev’ry day,

And millions cry to Heaven for relief.

“Why don’t You stop this madness?” many pray;

The Christ they know would not allow such grief.

The opposition to His name is great

But this creates much opportunity

To let the Saviour in us actuate

Whatever Spirit bids us do and be.

Now listen, let the Father’s Will proclaim,

And know that Christ can still the tempest storm.

Have faith, my friend, and act upon His name;

The greater faith, the greater you conform.

The perfect plan of God’s a mystery

To all but those whose faith has set them free.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He said to them, “Why are you so afraid?
Have you still no faith?”
Mark 4:40 ESV
6-13-14 An Intercession (an Acrostic Sonnet)
praying hands
Amazing Lord, in Spirit and in flesh,
No other than to You belongs all prayer.
I seek Your Holy Will today afresh,
Now hear this simple plea, a heart laid bare.
Take pity on the world, please hold Your hand,
Extend Your Grace to all You wish to save.
Refresh Your children’s hearts across the land;
Complete through us the work Your Son’s life gave.
Extend Your healing touch to those in need
So that the sick in sin may know You’re God.
Show favor that our Saviour intercede;
In all is sought Your Will, the Spirit’s prod.
O Lord, I pray for friends and family,
Now hear this heart laid bare, a simple plea.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

“Therefore, He is always able to save those who come to God through Him,

since He always lives to intercede for them.”

Hebrews 7:25

6-4-14 No Distractions (a Sonnet)

cow eating grass

The treasures of this world are Satan’s trap

Designed to draw attention far from God.

The pleasures of this world are so much scrap;

A sensual distraction, mere facade.

A cow is always looking for fresh grass,

And with her head so low she cannot see

The butcher sneaking up behind, alas.

The lost are like that cow, I guarantee.

You are Ambassador of Jesus here.

Your mission is to wake these cattle up

And bring them to salvation free and clear,

So they might drink from God’s Grace laden cup.

When you are focused on the work of Christ

You cannot love the world so poorly priced.

~~~~~~~~~~~
“Do not love the world or the things that belong to the world.
If anyone loves the world,
love for the Father is not in him.”
1 John 2:15
