7-5-15 Ministers of the Spirit

Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament;

not of the letter, but of the spirit:

for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

2 Corinthians 3:6 KJV

The Holy Spirit breathes a life anew

When we with Jesus Christ are crucified.

A new creation rises into view,

Not bound by laws designed with sin implied.

The Lamb of God was slain to satisfy

The letter of the covenant of old.

Now death, the price of sin, will pass us by;

We’re covered by the blood and thus paroled.

The Spirit sparks a testament of love,

That turns us into ministers of grace.

Our stories, once of sin, now rise above

To share salvation with the human race.

The letter kills, but Spirit brings alive

A faith surpassing all the laws contrive.

1-13-15 God or Bust

Unless the Lord is present count it dead

Whatever that is built with human hands;

It may exist a thousand years ahead

But might as well be built with desert sand.

A city that’s forgotten God is doomed

Like Sodom and Gormorrah full of sin;

Then soon by wickedness it is consumed,

As dead inside as though it’s never been.

Invite the Lord to sanction all you do,

And let His Spirit guide your heart and mind;

The earthly things that honor God are true,

And all without His love will fall behind.

Let God build both your church and family,

And everywhere you go, there He will be.

10-14-14 Wonderfully Made

If I spoke all the seconds of my days

I could not apt describe the human form,

For ev’ry cell and fibre does amaze;

The learned best feel wonder at the norm.

Exquisite is the mind, and even now

No one can understand the thoughts of man,

But I of hope and faith can thus avow

That through Your love and grace so I began.

O Father, how I’m awed by all You’ve done!

How You can make the atom and a star!

I once was a creation, now a son;

Christ’s sacrifice transformed my soul by far.

So marvelous Your works both great and small,

Yet You are greater still, over it all.
