10-31-15 Follow Him

godshand

And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.

Luke 5:11 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~
The lives of Peter, Andrew, James and John
Transformed when Jesus said ‘Come follow Me.’
How can someone refuse when spirit’s drawn,
Just like a sailor’s hunger for the sea?
There comes a moment in each person’s life
When love demands you leave it all behind.
That call of soul that cuts you like a knife;
That death of self to which you were confined.
The Savior beckons – all else disappears;
The world that you once knew just falls away.
The life before was measured once in years
But now this moment is the only way.
Drop all that you are doing. Follow Him.
If your ship moves too slow, jump in and swim.
5-4-15 On Hunger
bread-wheat-bible
But he answered and said,
It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Matthew 4:4 KJV
~~~~~~~~~~~~

The food you eat will satisfy the gut,

Until it cries again more frantically.

The hungrier you are the more you glut

Until you grow so big the moon can see.

If you would only hunger for the Word

A fraction of the time you think of food,

The words within your Bible would be blurred,

The letters faded from the times they’re viewed.

The Lord provides whatever that you need,

So don’t be stressed, He’s pulled you through before.

If manna’s what God gives for you to feed,

Be grateful and thank Him forever more.

The words proceeding from the mouth of God

Will give you life eternal filled and awed.

4-26-15 Seek and Find

seeking

If you’ve accepted Jesus in your heart,

You’re crucified with Him upon the cross,

Then risen with Him from the dead to start

Becoming more like Christ now all across.

Look to the Son in all you say and do,

And pray to know Him more each passing day,

Then feel His Spirit swell inside of you,

Until you disappear along the way.

Now seek those things which are above this world,

Where Christ sits on the right hand side of God,

And hunger for the Word til you’re unfurled,

No longer you, no longer frail and flawed.

The thing you seek has got no room for two.

Let go and let the Savior work through you.

~~~~~~~~~~~
If ye then be risen with Christ,
seek those things which are above,
where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Colossians 3:1 KJV
1-23-15 On Righteousness
hunger-and-thirst-for-righteousness
You haven’t wanted righteousness enough
Until you thirst and hunger nigh to death,
Your limbs grown weak, your voice turned lean and rough
And righteousness as precious as your breath.
You argue that the times won’t stand for that;
You’d lose your job and end up on the street.
The cost of righteousness won’t leave you fat;
You won’t know hunger when you always eat.
This world’s a desert void of drink or food,
But there’s a well to slake the weary soul.
You cannot take a sip till you’re subdued
And righteousness becomes your only goal.
For few are chosen although many called;
To gain true righteousness one must have crawled.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst

after righteousness:

for they shall be filled.

Matthew 5:6 KJV

11-20-14 Spiritual Milk

milk

Just as a newborn babe needs milk to live,

Desire the word of God to feed your soul;

Without it’s nourishment you fail to give

The sustenance you need to make you whole.

Essential truths within the gospel form

A base to grasp much deeper certainties;

The language fundamentals soon transform

What once was gibberish to spoken ease.

How can you understand God’s awsome grace

Unless you know what Jesus did for you?

How can you hope to win the final race

Unless you train your muscles to push through?

Your spirit cries in hunger for the Word;

The Savior’s gentle teachings are preferred.

~~~~~~~~~~~
As newborn babes,
desire the sincere milk of the word,
that ye may grow thereby:
9-16-14 Whenever You are Tempted
Temptation_of_Christ
Whenever you are tempted stop and think,
Remember how temptations followed Christ
With Satan in the wilderness to slink
And hunger, fame and power so enticed.
The Son of God was tempted all the time,
For many wanted Him to fail his work.
The Pharisees tried tricking Him sublime
With questions that they hoped the Lord would shirk.
Disowned by followers, disciples, God,
And on the cross some tempted Him to live.
But He did not succumb to something flawed,
So now just call on Him, He’ll gladly give.
Christ understands what you are going through
He’ll help you beat temptation’s point of view.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted,

he is able to succour them that are tempted.

Hebrews 2:18 KJV
