10-16-15 Hypocrite!

²¹ Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?

²² Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?

²³ Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?

Romans 2:21-23 KJV

Those Christians who don’t practice what they preach

Are like a blind man with a lamp in hand.

If they walk by just stay out of their reach

Else you be dragged with them into quicksand.

They’ve seen a lot but never really looked, ¹

And love pretending they know what they don’t.

They serve the truth but it tastes undercooked;

Stay far away but be forewarned: they won’t.

We can be hypocrites though ignorant

Until the Holy Spirit checks our walk,

But woe to them who know but live a front;

They do no good and harm the future flock. ²

Call out your brother if he lives a lie.

In doing so make sure you too comply.

5-7-15 He Hears

But verily God hath heard me;

he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.

Psalm 66:19 KJV

My enemies have painted me as vile;

An evil man, a phony hypocrite.

If this is true, could I then God beguile?

Would He then heed my prayers and thus commit?

Yet God has heard me, I who am His slave.

The love He has for me has changed my ways,

For He sent Christ His Son whose life He gave;

He died for all my sins. It’s He I praise!

If I were still the man I used to be,

I would not waste my time to spread the Word.

But my old self is dead on Calvary,

And now I follow Christ, His Spirit’s heard.

            My Father hears my prayers; I am His child.

            He answers every one so clear and mild.

3-22-15 Straining at Gnats

Now pray you don’t remain a hypocrite!

The blind that lead the blind into a ditch,

Who tells the world you surely will commit

But won’t begin until you strike it rich.

Don’t be the one who points your finger out

To judge the man that breaks the smallest rule,

But when no one is looking goes about

To disregard them all and think you’re cool.

Please don’t continue turning up your nose

As if your toilet smells like baby’s breath.

The stench that comes from you is not a rose;

You think you are alive but reek of death.

I ought to know a hypocrite by now:

I am the first in line to disavow.

1-5-15 At the Door

We’ve all been told ‘Judge not, lest ye be judged,’

Yet here we are in church with jaundiced eye.

She’s too agreeable, He won’t be budged,

They’re whispering again, I wonder why?

O hypocrite! You think I write to them.

It’s always someone else who has the fault.

The judge is at the door yet you condemn.

It’s not enough to try; you have to halt.

Remember, were it not for God’s good grace

The flames of Hell would lick against your feet.

Be humble in your heart, not just your face;

Consider yourself less than all you meet.

If you complain against your brother now,

When you face Jesus, He will disavow.

8-16-14 Draw Nigh to God

Now who admits they are a hypocrite?

We think we all have got a goodly heart.

You seem so righteous when in church you sit

Then spit and swear as soon as you depart.

Draw near to God, you fake, now on your knees!

Don’t fool yourself in thinking that you’re not.

If these words pierce your soul like stinging bees,

Draw near to God, you’re worse than you once thought.

Now purify your heart with tears and prayer

And don’t give up till God draws near to you.

You must forget what others think or care,

And let the blood of Christ wash over you.

            If you let slip this warning, hypocrite,

            You’re telling God you’re good when you’re unfit.
