6-11-15 For Unto Us

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Assured by prophecy it comes to pass,

Both fully man and God, His message sworn;

A Prince above all Kings, no one surpass.

Both earth and heaven Jesus comes to rule,

The governance of both His shoulders bear;

So Wonderful indeed, most precious jewel,

In glory and in beauty none compare.

The Counselor advising sinners come,

The everlasting Father to the saved;

The Prince of Peace indeed to all, not some,

The Alpha and Omega, Love engraved.

Our Savior and our Lord, our all in all

Is Jesus Christ, the name the saints do call.

It’s easier to count the stars above

Than find one thing His love can’t overthrow.

The love of God, through Jesus Christ our Lord,

Is undeniable across the board.

4-27-15 Greater Than Our Heart

Our conscience will remind us of our past,

To call us guilty o’er and o’er again.

It’s first to blame, but to forgive it’s last,

And quick to say repentance is in vain.

But if our heart condemns us, don’t despair:

God’s greater than our hearts and knows all things.

The final judgment happens over there,

And trumps the heart of paupers and of kings.

The conscience points to worthlessness and death,

The Holy Ghost will show us God forgives.

The sorrow of the world will steal our breath;

Conviction leads to Christ – with Him we live!

Yet Jesus says we’re His, where we belong.

4-10-15 The Secret Part

There is a secret part of you that laughs,

An inward spark of love and happiness,

Connected to the Savior, free from gaffes

Or other outward games that bring us stress.

The Lord desires the truth and all that brings,

And deep within the Holy Spirit shares

To all God’s children, not to priests and kings,

The wisdom of the ages asked through prayer.

Oh, happy soul, where Jesus loves to dwell,

Is there not any greater joy than this,

To share the gospel and save one from hell,

To see the Light come on and feel their bliss?

The secret part of you that is at peace

Was born to share the love and never cease.
