2-2-16 The Way of Hate

way of hate

But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

1 John 2:11 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~
The man who hates is dwelling in the dark;
The light of Christ is nowhere to be found.
He stumbles, trips and falls far off the mark,
For blindness steals his vision all around.
Both love and hate can’t share the selfsame space;
The heart of man is not designed that way.
Antipathy just shows a lack of grace,
And without grace the heart will fade away.
Call on the Lord the instant hate arrives;
He’ll lead you to forgive as He forgives.
It won’t be easy but you will survive,
And you will walk the path of light and live.
A hater does not know the way he goes.
A blind man in the dark has no repose.
REMEMBER: Hate drags you down. Love lifts you up.
12-1-15 The Haves and Have-Nots
For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.
Mark 4:25 KJV
~~~~~~~~~~~

THE HAVES AND HAVE–NOTS

The light of Christ distinctly shines from you,

And as He grows within it will shine more.

The means of grace and knowledge blessed to few

In time shall be much richer than before.

And O! the love that burns within your soul

Increases til that’s all you will become,

But those that lack the fire true and whole

Will smolder, growing colder, then succumb.

Like Judas they may seem at first one saved,

Yet one day be revealed for their facade.

They’re kind upon the surface, well behaved,

But with no real salvation just a fraud.

To those that have is given more and more;

To those that don’t there’s no accounting for.

8-26-15 Give and Give

hands-out

Give to him that asketh thee,

and from him that would borrow of thee

turn not thou away.

Matthew 5:42 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~
There is this spark of giving in the saved,
A constant pouring out of love to life,
Not born of duty or of laws enslaved,
Not subject to a custom, stale and rife.
The heart of Christ provides to all that needs
Without a thought of getting something back.
The hand of Christ is busy doing deeds,
For what He has He gives to those who lack.
To those who ask deliver what you can;
To those who wish to borrow, them you lend.
The grace that you exhibit once began
With God whose love we cannot comprehend.
Don’t turn away the beggar, but recall
Christ died for that man, too; He gave His all.
7-26-15 Diligence
cornerstone
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
2 Peter 1:5-10 KJV
            ~~~~~~~~~~~

If you would come to know of Christ our King,

Then work with diligence these attributes:

Keep faith so strong it stands through anything,

And build your virtue as an absolute.

Increase in knowledge of the scriptured word,

Conduct with temperence your words and ways,

Be patient to endure all trials incurred,

And strive toward godliness without delays.

With kindness treat your brother as yourself,

And move with charity in all you do.

Without these things you’re blind upon a shelf,

Forgetting what Christ’s death has done for you.

            Give diligence to make your calling sure

            And you will never fall as immature.

6-2-15 Give When You’ve Got

giving

13 For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:

14 But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:

15 As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.

2 Corinthians 8:13-15 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~
To love your neighbor as yourself is work,
But work that stems from love is worth the sweat,
And if you have abundance do not shirk
To give to those whose needs have not been met.
If your own children had no food to eat,
You’d ask your wealthy neighbor for some aid.
Then when you’ve gained your riches so complete,
Please help a hungry family who’s dismayed.
The scales of love are balanced when you give,
For we are all but equal in God’s eyes,
And even if your neighbor is a sieve,
Still love him as yourself – don’t compromise.
A man that gathers much has no surplus;
And he that gathers scant lacks nothing thus.
sonnet #377
12-27-14 Alms
giving
The hardest thing a man can learn to do
Is give what he has got unto the poor.
Forgotten is the time he was poor, too,
Now blinded by excess and wanting more.
That which he gives expecting nothing back
Is just like lending riches to the Lord.
The man who gives with love will never lack,
For God will see that he’s ten times restored.
He doesn’t have to wait until he’s asked;
If he is close to God he’ll see the need,
And if he only has two coins amassed,
The one he gives away’s a planted seed.
Have pity on the poor and those without,
For giving is what love is all about.
~~~~~~~~~~~

He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD;

and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

Proverbs 19:17 KJV
