2-9-16 Hear Hear

And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.

Mark 4:24 KJV

Attend to all the teachings of the Lord,

For they’re designed to bring you home to God.

Be diligent that what you learn is stored,

Then share them with all men near and abroad.

The more that you distribute of the Word,

A greater portion of the Word’s revealed.

Attune your heart to living what you’ve heard;

You’ll find the harvest brings a greater yield.

The Holy Spirit leads you to the truth,

Then tells you what it means if you just hear.

You do not have to be a brilliant sleuth;

Just listen with your heart and all is clear.

The more you give the more you shall be given.

This economic lesson’s Jesus-driven.

9-22-15 On Addiction

¹⁴ But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

¹⁵ Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

James 1:14-15 KJV

We’ve all been tempted; still we’re tempted now

For Satan pays attention to our lusts.

Then when we fall and break most every vow,

His demons ride our shame, feed our disgust.

Then like a horror movie sin’s revived

As if it will not die by force or will,

Until your prayers seem wooden and contrived,

And then when you give up death has its fill.

Cry out unto the Lord though you feel dead,

And pray until your tears have soaked the ground.

He leads you to the help you need ahead;

Just trust in Jesus – grace much more abounds.

It seems like all is lost; don’t be deceived.

Salvation comes to those who first believed.

9-8-14 Green Pastures and Still Waters

My shepherd leads me to the perfect place

Where rocky mountainside gives way to lea,

And there amid the clover of His grace

He knows that I will never go astray.

The water of His love is pure and still;

No babbling brook to make me start or stress.

Ev’ry time I drink I get my fill;

This living water’s never to excess.

My faith is led into His righteousness,

Invigorating both my heart and soul.

Away from worldly cares I convalesce

And rest until His love has made me whole.

            The Lord will make me lie in pasture green

            And lead me to still water so serene.
