6-17-16 Shut Your Mouth

For he that will love life, and see good days,

let him refrain his tongue from evil,

and his lips that they speak no guile

A lying tongue will come to no good thing,

For it will come around to face the liar.

If you would be like Christ your tongue should bring

The words the Holy Ghost set it afire.

Refrain from evil talk, it flogs the soul,

Removing you as witness of the Word.

The things you say affects you as a whole,

And who desires sickness? Now that’s absurd!

Beguiling words are fashioned to deceive;

If you can’t speak with love then shut your mouth.

Christ told you ‘Yea’ or ‘Nay’ but not to thieve;

If you must speak share Jesus North and South.

If you desire a life that’s full of love,

Tell others what the gospel is made of.

9-30-14 God’s Got Your Back

God knows the trials you face from day to day;

His spirit dwells within you all the time.

Be confident in all you do and say,

For God is always with you so sublime.

No need to fear, no need to run and hide,

The Lord has gone ahead to light your path.

No matter what transpires he’s by your side;

Whatever interferes will face His wrath.

The God of Israel has got your back,

So speak in confidence with truth and fire.

Don’t worry that your foes will soon attack;

God knows who is the thief, the thug, the liar.

Don’t worry, God is with you in your trial;

His presence makes your trouble all worthwhile.

7-9-14 Liar, Liar

How can you claim to really love the Lord

When hatred for your neighbor flows within?

Like claiming peace upon a bloody sword,

Such paradox reveals your filthy sin.

If you desire to show your love for God

You must forgive your brother all his faults.

If not, the flame that burns is but a fraud

Revealing that it’s you whom you exalt.

Look deep within your heart for enmity

And pluck it out at once this very day.

A Lover cannot harbour enemies;

As vinegar in wine, it does betray.

Tis better to confess a troubled soul

Than claiming to be well when you’re not whole.
