11-2-15 The Spirit of the Lord

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound

Isaiah 61:1 KJV

The Spirit of the Lord is with you now,

The same upon Isaiah and in Christ;

When you called Jesus Savior to avow

The Holy Ghost became within you spliced.

The Comforter that Jesus spoke about,

The power that brought Him back from the dead

Can work through you, of that there is no doubt,

To preach the gospel to the meek ahead.

The Holy Ghost can bind a broken heart,

Bring liberty to captives bound in sin.

Obedience to Jesus sets apart,

And love will let the miracles begin.

Be clear, it isn’t you that does these things;

The Spirit of the Lord the Savior brings.

12-2-14 Fulfilled

When Jesus read God’s words Isaiah wrote

The scripture was fulfilled complete that day.

His very life that passage would promote,

And His disciples now the same convey.

The Savior came to save those lost in sin,

And in His name prepare them for the same,

To preach the gospel to the poor within

And set at liberty the bruised and lame.

The follower of Jesus does the work

He is anointed by the Lord to do.

There is no time to dawdle or to shirk;

The harvest is abundant, workers few.

Fulfill that scripture, too, with all your heart;

Let Jesus move within you from the start.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,

and recovering of sight to the blind,

to set at liberty them that are bruised,

To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

11-12-14 Liberty

Before the Spirit of the Lord descends,

The moment you choose Jesus as your King,

A veil of bondage shrouds you toward an end

Of bitterness and hell beyond death’s sting.

But when His Presence fills your empty heart,

The grace of God will come to rend the veil,

And Oh, the joy this freedom shall impart

Just cannot be described on any scale!

The chains of sin are shattered with His love,

And darkness is dispelled forever more;

The Spirit of the Savior from above

Brings liberty you’ve never known before.

A blind man once in faith reached out his hand,

And with a touch from Christ had vision grand.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is,

there is liberty.

10-27-14 Stand Fast

If you call Christ your Lord you now are free

Of all the damning nature of your sin;

His sacrifice gives you such liberty

A new life in the Spirit does begin.

With freedom you will surely draw such hate,

The world will want you back within its grip;

Stand fast with Christ, don’t take the devil’s bait,

The price of freedom sometimes means the whip.

The yoke of bondage once held you in chains,

But now you’re free beneath His cleansing blood;

Whatever happens now, the growth, the pains,

Are not worth falling back into the mud.

Not only is the Savior now your friend,

He’s just a prayer away and will defend.
