3-29-15 He Knew

Before the earth and sun and stars He was;

Created everything with love and grace;

Before the first was written knew the laws;

Ere Adam breathed He knew the human race.

He also knew the sin that would abound

To keep the soul of man apart from God;

He knew He had to come to earth uncrowned,

To be a man not knowing sin or fraud.

He had to live a life unblemished so,

The perfect sacrifice for sin undone.

He knew that on the cross His blood would flow

And when He died salvation thus begun.

This man we know as Jesus knew that He

Would give us hope through Him to set us free.

3-15-15 No Longer Two

No matter where you go upon this world,

The Christian that you meet is one with you;

The differences you have are soon unfurled

As children of the Lord no longer two.

Now one in mind and heart and spirit dwell,

The faith you have in Jesus is your bond;

Such unity in love you both can tell,

So manifested from our Father donned.

As Christ shows us compassion, we should, too,

And we with one another be as He;

Now strengthened for the task we’re called to do,

To share the gospel truth for all to see.

Show mercy, grace and love to all you meet;

A brother now, or later saved so sweet.

12-6-14 Manifested

Would you, my friend, send out your only son,

To such a place where he’d be scourged and killed,

To save a wayward world who’d largely shun

The love he gave to have your will fulfilled?

God knew the world was doomed, so steeped in sin,

His Son would have to die so we could live,

And not just die, but sacrificed wherein

We’d not just live, but He our sins forgive.

How great a love is this! It makes me weep

To comprehend the pain we put Him through,

But still, O friend! God’s will He still did keep

That we might have salvation, living new.

God’s love for us was manifested so

He sent his Son to us so we could know.
