1-30-14 Obedience

obedience

Obedience is crucial as a child

Who does not have a full awareness yet,

As such maturity will get him riled

Then later to be filled with some regret.

But if he does the things that he is told

By those who really want him to evolve,

He’ll take the Lord’s commandments to uphold

In love to God and from his own resolve.

But he that doesn’t care to thus obey

The rules of his own parents or his God

Will lack the skills of life and then fall prey

To Satan’s will whose way is wide and broad.

Obey the smaller things when you are young,

And you will climb with ease the highest rung.

He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul;

but he that despiseth his ways shall die.

Proverbs 19:16 KJV

5-30-14 When I Was A Child (an Acrostic Sonnet)

childish things

When children play the point is having fun.
How simple were the days when we were young!
Effused with energy our lives were run
Not caring for mature acts, thoughts or tongue.

In time we all grow older and mature;

With age we gain responsibility.
Adults now, childish things are more obscure,
So we must now embrace utility.

A sober heart and mind are needed, too;

Christ seeks the souls who’s lost frivolity.
He needs disciples that can carry through
Instilling the Good News through colloquy.
Let children be themselves and have their play;
Depart from suckled milk when meat’s the way.

“When I was a child, I spoke like a child,

I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child.

When I became a man, I put aside childish things.”

1 Corinthians 13:11
