2-18-16 Worth the Wait

worththewait

7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. 8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

James 5:7-8 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~
This food you eat some farmer took the time
To grow the crop from seed to harvest day.
He must have patience for the rainy clime
Like grace upon the thirsty soul convey.
The best things are worth all the waiting for:
A baby takes nine months to come to term.
When mother holds the child she bore before,
The time it took for this she will affirm.
Be patient for the day when Christ returns.
Establish now your heart to persevere,
And love no matter what be your concern,
For when that day arrives will all be clear.
The coming of the Lord is drawing nigh.
The harvest soon will come to glorify.
REMEMBER: Jesus might come today. Be diligent!
12-10-15 On Ignorance
ignorance
13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. 14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 1:13-14 KJV
~~~~~~~~~~~

ON IGNORANCE

Your ignorance is no excuse to sin

But is instead the well from which sin springs.

Before you made the choice and let Christ in

You drank the darkness, thought it everything.

You fled from all conviction like a thief;

The gospel words you heard picked up the chase,

And though your ignorance fed unbelief

The love of God was patient with His grace.

No matter who you were or what you did,

When you came to the cross, surrendered all,

The mercy of the Lord your sins did rid;

Abundant faith and love in Him sprang tall.

Your neighbor might be ignorant in sin.

Go share the gospel now; let it begin.

10-26-15 Wait – Don’t Hate

Patience skunk 01

8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

Psalm 37:8-9 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~~
When someone does you wrong it’s natural
To let your anger get the best of you,
But wrath will be your wisdom’s funeral
And then the worst of you will soon break through.
Yet you’re no slave to sin: the old man died; 1
He’s crucified with Christ when you are saved.
If you’ve been wronged let Spirit be your guide;
Just wait upon the Lord; let hate be waived.
When evil’s done to you first turn to prayer;
The patient love of Jesus will descend.
When you are meek the new earth’s yours to bear. 2
God cuts off evildoers in the end.
Serenity belongs to those who wait;
In Christ there is no room for those who hate.
1Romans 6:6
2Matthew 5:5
8-27-15 An Exhortation
uplifting
Now we exhort you, brethren,
warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded,
support the weak, be patient toward all men.
1 Thessalonians 5:14 KJV
~~~~~~~~~~~

We have our own responsibilities,

And that includes a call to help the poor:

The poor in heart, in mind, in strength are these

That need some extra care we can’t ignore.

Admonish those that step across the line:

The busybody, troublemaking sort.

Teach discipline and selfless service fine;

These diamonds in the rough, do not sell short.

Uplift the ones who struggle with the cross:

The simple and the slow to understand.

The weak need love who cannot bear a loss;

Please help them with their faith and to withstand.

Have patience with the souls who trip and fall;

Be one to help them up. See Christ in all.

8-22-15 Come See

JesusTomb

5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye:

for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Matthew 28:5-6 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~
Imagine Mary’s fright that Sunday morn
When she arrived to see the Master’s tomb.
She thought that she would visit there and mourn;
Instead she was to see an empty room.
The guards lay as if dead upon the ground,
And there an angel sat upon the stone,
As bright as lightning, patient and profound
To say that Christ is risen, come be shown.
To know that He has risen from the dead!
He took with Him the bulk of all our sins,
And rose just three days later like He said,
And if we just believe new life begins!
Come see the empty tomb where Jesus lay.
He conquered death and hell upon that day!
8-20-15 Made for Man
Mark 2:23-28
23 And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.
24 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?
25 And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?
26 How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?
27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
Mark 2:23-28 KJV
~~~~~~~~~~~

Christ said the Sabbath day was made for man,

Twas made for good and not to bring him bad:

His soul may benefit in worship span;

His body rest from labor and be glad.

His necessary acts should not be banned:

A sheep can sure be rescued from a ditch, 1

And David’s hunger could not be pre-planned.2

The Sabbath’s made for man to so enrich.

Here Jesus was the Son of Man divine,3

The instituter of the Sabbath day.

He could have said “The Sabbath day is Mine,”

But taught them out of patient love the way.

Man wasn’t made to keep the Sabbath pure;

It’s made for man so he may rest assure.

2-15-15 On Seeing the Unseen

Eye on Jesus by Kritzlof

The universe we see with mortal eyes

Will not endure the patient tick of time.

The sun and stars are physical and dies;

An end will come to that which once was prime.

But we are not concerned with passing things;

The eyes we use were given us through Grace.

Our vision’s fixed instead on what faith brings;

Invisible to all in time and space.

Sublime and precious are the things we see

With hearts attuned to love straight from its source.

We know the empty tomb that set us free

Is more than just your average tour de force.

The Spirit shows eternity to those

Who died with Christ and from the cross arose.

~~~~~~~~~~~
We look not at the things which are seen,
but at the things which are not seen:
for the things which are seen are temporal;
but the things which are not seen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:18 KJV
10-3-14 Patiently Waiting for Christ
Patiently Waiting
Oh Lord, direct our hearts into God’s love,
That perfect sanctuary full of light,
Where angels always worship from above
And fills our souls with gladness in His sight.
Now let us be submerged in holy praise
So that we might arrive into God’s heart.
We pray that we might linger all our days
While we await our Saviour to impart
His presence promised, then to be achieved
When those who died in Him begin to rise.
Count us, Oh Lord, among those who believed
And waited steadily with no disguise.
Please draw us into God’s pure heart where we
Anticipate Christ’s coming patiently.
 ~~~~~

And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God,

and into the patient waiting for Christ.

2 Thessalonians 3:5 KJV
