12-2-15 Live by Faith

faith

Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

Hebrews 10:38 KJV

LIVE BY FAITH

Obedience to Christ is lived by faith,

A sober and regenerating love.

A child of God is not some flimsy wraith

Who always doubts salvation from above.

When justified, the saved will turn to Christ,

As natural as flowers turn to light.

Redemption’s not a treat that thinly sliced,

It’s paid for at the cross in full, outright.

If any man draw back from fear or shame,

To shrink away completely from belief,

Or think that righteousness is his to claim,

Perdition will be his with no relief.

Go boldly now in Christ with confidence;

Have faith in Jesus – He’s deliverance.

1-28-15 Celebration!

celebration

When you are freed by Jesus from all sin

And come down off the cross a new born man,

The joy that floods your heart will then begin

Like Jews from Babylon that homeward ran.

The chains of slavery are now removed;

You climb from darkness to a warming light.

The promise of salvation has been proved

For now you’re led with peace and fresh delight.

It seems the very hills sing out in glee,

And all the birds praise Jesus with one voice:

“Another soul is saved! Now glory be!”

The Holy Spirit swells and we rejoice.

That rustling sound you hear is clapping trees;

The news of your redemption’s on the breeze!

~~~~~~~~~~~
For ye shall go out with joy,
and be led forth with peace:
the mountains and the hills shall break forth
before you into singing,
and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
Isaiah 55:12 KJV
10-6-14 As a Little Child
Child_and_Gift
A child accepts a gift with fervent glee
And lays aside all pride and prejudice.
Those newly dead to sin and so set free
Receives the gospel with unfettered bliss.
The intellect sometimes can know a truth,
But can’t compare to soul accepting Christ.
This kind of joy reflects the golden youth
Who drink salvation’s milk as life sufficed.
God’s kingdom truly is the greatest gift
To those sincere at heart who love the Lord;
No longer lost in sin and set adrift,
The infant child of God gets his reward.
Stretch out your arms, embrace the bold good news;
Redemption’s in your reach, it’s yours to choose.
~~~~~

Verily I say unto you,

Whosoever shall not receive

the kingdom of God as a little child,

he shall not enter therein.

Mark 10:15 KJV

6-20-14 He Knows (a Sonnet)

temptation-apple-and-snake

The weaknesses you fight with ev’ry day,

That try to undermine your faith and hope,

It seems at times they never will allay,

And no one understands how hard you cope.

You’re told that Jesus understands your woes

But doubt that He can know these modern flaws.

The core of your temptations juxtapose

With ageless frailties from man’s first cause.

When God walked on the Earth in flesh and blood

The Devil tried his best to make Christ fall;

Temptations rained upon Him like a flood,

But Jesus cleaved to God right through it all.

Your Saviour surely knows your battles well;

Just cling to Him, He’s conquered sin and hell.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
For we do not have a high priest who is unable
to sympathize with our weaknesses,
but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are,
yet without sin.
Hebrews 4:15 (ESV)
