1-30-16 That Extra Mile

helping

And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

Matthew 5:41 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~
If some policeman stops you on the street
And makes demands that you might think unfair,
Don’t argue or complain, comply complete;
Respect the badge, forgive the man in prayer.
A friend might need some help on moving day,
And though you’ve got a game on the TV,
Be glad to help him move without delay
And don’t mention the game you didn’t see.
Treat every man as if the Lord has sent;
The Savior died for them as well as you.
You’re representing Jesus with intent,
So go that extra mile; He’ll see you through.
Whoever shall compel you go a mile,
Go twice as far, and share the Word awhile.
~~~~~~~~~~~

REMEMBER: Jesus went that extra mile for you.

10-21-15 Partiality

partiality (1)

1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;

3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:

4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?

James 2:1-4 KJV

~~~~~~~~~~~
In church we always want to look our best;
We’ve got our Sunday-go-to-meeting clothes,
But there’s a fellow that’s so poorly dressed
His only suit’s so worn his elbows shows.
I promise you someone in church will gasp,
Will roll their eyes, then whisper to a friend.
Don’t be the one to shun the poor man’s grasp;
Please don’t compare him to the latest trend.
The Savior doesn’t see a rag from gloss;
A tattered shirt’s the same as Vera Wang.
It all is level at the bloody cross;
He only wore our sins when He did hang.
A judging heart is evil at its best;
See all alike and you’ll be surely blessed.
8-2-14 On Moderation
kindness2
As you move through the hours of your day
Be sure to know your world is watching you;
To someone else your conduct there just may
Be all they know of Christians that pass through.
Now, think and act as if the Lord is nigh
With kindness and respect in all affairs;
Let God be glorified, and don’t be shy
To give Him credit always without airs.
Interpret ev’rything in their best sense,
Treat saints and heathens both the very same;
No matter what it is, forgive offense
And do all that you do in Jesus’ name.
Be moderate in more than dress and drink;
You might be to someone the vital link.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Let your moderation be known unto all men.

The Lord is at hand.

Philippians 4:5 KJV
