9-5-15 Ascension

So then after the Lord had spoken unto them,

he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

Mark 16:19 KJV

Imagine being there that awesome day,

Among those with the resurrected Lord,

Who learned from Christ Himself just how to pray

And seen Him make the blind and deaf restored!

O just to hear His final words on earth

As angels gathered ’round up in the air!

No one that’s ever been of mortal birth

Will fully understand the wonders there.

And then to watch the Savior start to rise!

The host of heaven there among the clouds!

If we were there we’d scarce believe our eyes

As Jesus pierced the sky above the crowd!

He sits now on the right hand next to God!

When He returns the universe will laud!

5-18-15 On Seeking Signs

³⁸ Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

³⁹ But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas

Matthew 12:38-39 KJV

There still are those today who look for signs,

For they don’t have the Spirit faith reveals;

They seek some thund’rous roar and light that shines

And still would turn to court with their appeals.

But just as Jesus said so long so ago,

The only sign He’d show the cheating crowd,

Like Jonah three days in the fish below,

He’d lay inside a tomb under the shroud.

Then, O, the miracle our Saviour wrought!

Within the gut of death three days gone by,

He then came back to life as He once taught

To show us all we never have to die.

To those who seek a sign ere they believe,

The resurrected Christ their faith should cleave.

4-4-15 Song of Expectation

Come join me in this song that has no end,

And we will praise the Lord forever more!

He’s our salvation, whom we can depend;

Our Savior Jesus, He’s worth living for!

Now, see this bloody pool on Calvary?

He died here on the cross just yesterday.

He sacrificed His life for you and me

Our sins He took upon Himself to pay!

Observe that giant stone before the tomb?

That’s where our Savior’s body then was laid.

Tomorrow that will be an empty room

For He will conquer death’s thin masquerade!

We sing, for Jesus Christ will soon be here!

Our resurrected Lord whom we revere!

2-17-15 My Redeemer Lives (An Acrostic Sonnet)

My Savior lives! Yes, my Redeemer lives!

You can’t deny it when He touches you!

Reach out to Jesus; He your sin forgives!
Each day you walk with Him you’ll know it’s true!
Descended from our Father Christ became
Equipped to be a servant unto death.
Embrace the Savior now – He knows your name.
Make Jesus your Redeemer with your breath.
E‘en though the worms may feast upon your flesh,
Rejoice! You will be resurrected soon.

Live now for Christ; when He returns afresh
In glory, you’ll arise and then commune!
Victorious in Jesus, have no fear!
Escape the bonds of death, your Savior’s here!

2-1-14 Children of God

Although we came from parents in the flesh

In truth we are creations, orphan-born;

As mortal beings, while we breathe we’re fresh

But then we die and turn to dust to mourn.

Yet Jesus came and set the record straight:

He took our sins and on the cross He died;

He died for you and me, both small and great

Returning three days later to abide.

If we have faith in Jesus Christ as King

Believing fast that He’s our Savior dear,

We are adopted by our God to sing

As children bound for Heaven now so near.

By faith in Jesus, God’s our Father now.

By faith we walk like Christ; He’ll show us how.
