11-5-15 Tonight

And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

Luke 6:12 KJV

Tonight you must stay up all night in prayer,

For if you put it off you never will.

I promise you, beloved, if you dare,

A different soul will feel the morning chill.

When you’re alone with God don’t fall asleep.

He’s waited all your life for this one night.

If you’re sincere then be prepared to weep;

You’ll see how rare the times you’ve got it right.

Pray for your friends, your foes, your family,

And take your time, you can’t get too involved.

Christ prayed for you, that you might one day see;

He interceded that you’ll be absolved.

Stay up tonight and pray; it’s worth the time.

The Holy Ghost will show God’s love sublime.

It’s not too late to call upon the Lord,

Though you’re not promised you’ll be here tonight.

Your body’s death is coming; you’ll be floored,

And then it’s just too late to get it right.

The final days are here as you well know:

The Spirit of the Lord on flesh is poured,¹

Now prophesies and visions really flow,

And old men dream of things that once were stored.

Such wonders in the heavens oft explored,²

And signs upon the earth with blood and fire;

The sun grows dark, the blood moon’s not ignored,³

The Lord will soon return, His own acquire.

If you don’t know the Savior, Now’s the time!

Tomorrow might not come, but Now is prime!

9-13-15 At Hand

¹⁴ Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

¹⁵ And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

The time was right, the prophesies fulfilled

To usher in the living God on earth,

And there was God Himself midst crowds that milled,

The perfect Son of Man of virgin birth.

He said with joy “I’ve got good news for you!

A liberation from Mosaic law!

Here’s peace and pardon and salvation, too!

Eternal life by grace, with love and awe!”

“Repent!” He said, “Your sins will I forgive!

Here’s all you have to do: Believe in Me!

I AM the Way, the Truth, My Life I give!

The realm of God’s at hand to set you free!”

If Jesus told you this, would you believe?

He sent me here to ask you to receive.

9-3-15 Here We Go

⁹ That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:

¹⁰ Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

¹¹ Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

The leaders of the earth are fraudulent;

The truth is now despised, it’s lies they want,

And any talk of God is shouted down.

The reprobate advance the cause they flaunt

While running God’s own children in the ground.

The day has come upon us, rife with sin,

But Christ is our Commander – we will win.

Life Eternal (for a friend)

I walk up to the casket of a friend

Whose life and loves I barely even knew

And as I view his body at its end

I wonder if he knew the Savior, too.

A stranger comes and stands beside me there;

His smile is warm, his eyes are full of light.

He says “Here lies a man that really cared,

Who always strove to treat his neighbor right.

He came across as strict but ever fair.

No, as a man he was not sinless pure,

But he was intimate with God in prayer;

He loved the Savior deeply to be sure.

He has a life eternal with the Lord:

His faith in Christ was where his wealth was stored.”

1-4-15 Do Not Fear

Such evil as the world has never known

Sweeps ‘cross the land like locusts sent from Hell,

But do not fear, for you are not alone;

The Lord is always with you, all is well.

They come with guns to take you in the night,

Or openly with laws corruptly made,

And persecute you with their words and might,

But God is in your heart, be not afraid.

Foul Satan knows his days are at an end;

He rushes round to take what isn’t his.

Be strong and of good courage, do not bend,

For God is here right now, you know He is.

The Lord will not forsake you, sister dear;

O brother, feel His presence, do not fear.

12-11-14 On Drama

No matter where you go there’s some dispute.

When everybody’s right the rest are wrong.

And some will stir the water to pollute,

Or stick their noses where they don’t belong.

You need not go too far, the drama’s near;

It’s probably within your very home,

But you don’t have to fight, no need to jeer;

You don’t have to get mad, no need to foam.

Just lean upon the Lord in silent prayer,

And be compassionate to all you meet.

No need to pry when it’s not your affair,

And if it is be humble and discreet.

A wiser man grows wiser without strife.

Find comfort in the Lord; increase your life.

11-24-14 Create in Me

Forgive me, Lord, the sins I’ve held onto;

Create in me a heart that’s pure and clean;

I’ve lost my way, but You know what do do;

I need Your grace, on only You I lean.

O God, I am not worthy of Your love,

But Jesus said if I believe in Him

I’ve everlasting life with You above,

Renew my spirit, Lord, please make it right;

10-9-14 Author and Finisher

Look now to Jesus, let His glory shine;

The author of your faith, and object, too,

And in the spirit hope and love align,

That Christ will finish all these things as true.

He left the bosom of his Father’s home,

Abandoned there the form of God divine

To come into the roughshod world to roam

And took the form of servant recombine.

Instead of glory, Jesus suffered shame

Unto the cruel cross he died for you,

And now sits next to God in form and name

Interceding through your point of view.

The Son of God was once the Son of man,

So that in faith you’ll share God’s perfect plan.
