1-8-16 The Great Physician

¹⁶ And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?

¹⁷ When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Mark 2:16-17 KJV

When you are sick you need a doctor’s care,

For he knows how to bring you back to health.

A broken bone can give you quite a scare;

He knows just how to mend it – that’s his wealth.

When Adam disobeyed it all began,

This plague called sin, a terminal disease.

It permeates the soul of every man,

And keeps us from our God despite our pleas.

The Great Physician came to make us whole.

He had to yield His life and shed His blood.

When we submit to Jesus Christ our soul,

Then we are healed beneath the cleansing flood.

The only way to Heaven’s to get well;

The only remedy: in Jesus dwell.

REMEMBER: Jesus bore ALL your sins on that cruel cross so that you might be made whole through Him.

12-10-15 On Ignorance

¹³ Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. ¹⁴ And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

ON IGNORANCE

Your ignorance is no excuse to sin

But is instead the well from which sin springs.

Before you made the choice and let Christ in

You drank the darkness, thought it everything.

You fled from all conviction like a thief;

The love of God was patient with His grace.

No matter who you were or what you did,

When you came to the cross, surrendered all,

The mercy of the Lord your sins did rid;

Abundant faith and love in Him sprang tall.

Your neighbor might be ignorant in sin.

Go share the gospel now; let it begin.

4-24-15 So Well Defined

Once slave to sin, now servant of the Lord,

For as you died with Christ, with Him you rose,

And here eternal life can be explored,

The path to righteousness and where it goes.

The Grace of God sustains you as you move,

One fruit our holy Father loves to give;

So here you are with nothing left to prove,

Just pass the gift along, and so forgive.

Now that the Holy Spirit’s in your soul,

The Savior living in your heart and mind,

It is no longer you who’s in control;

Thank God for this, to be so well defined!

It started when you made a simple choice.

There’s victory in Jesus; now rejoice!

1-23-15 On Righteousness

You haven’t wanted righteousness enough

Until you thirst and hunger nigh to death,

Your limbs grown weak, your voice turned lean and rough

And righteousness as precious as your breath.

You argue that the times won’t stand for that;

You’d lose your job and end up on the street.

The cost of righteousness won’t leave you fat;

You won’t know hunger when you always eat.

This world’s a desert void of drink or food,

But there’s a well to slake the weary soul.

You cannot take a sip till you’re subdued

And righteousness becomes your only goal.

For few are chosen although many called;

To gain true righteousness one must have crawled.

1-4-15 Do Not Fear

Such evil as the world has never known

Sweeps ‘cross the land like locusts sent from Hell,

But do not fear, for you are not alone;

The Lord is always with you, all is well.

They come with guns to take you in the night,

Or openly with laws corruptly made,

And persecute you with their words and might,

But God is in your heart, be not afraid.

Foul Satan knows his days are at an end;

He rushes round to take what isn’t his.

Be strong and of good courage, do not bend,

For God is here right now, you know He is.

The Lord will not forsake you, sister dear;

O brother, feel His presence, do not fear.

11-9-14 Healed

You heard my cries and healed me, O my God,

And from Your loving touch I now am whole.

I once was sick from sin, my life was flawed,

But You gave me the cure and freed my soul.

You are the Great Physician, O my Lord;

My life is now completely in Your hands.

The medicine You give has me restored

And now I praise Your name across these lands.

You loved the world so much You sent Your Son

Who caused the lame to walk and blind to see,

And then took all our sin and died but won

When He defeated death to set us free.

O Lord my God, You heard my wretched groan

Reached down and made me well, no more alone.

7-27-14 The Doctor Is In

If you don’t think that you need Jesus now,

And you can get to Heaven on your own,

And all religion’s hogwash anyhow,

That there is nothing you need to atone,

Then go ahead, the Saviour’s not for you.

Your righteous attitude is yours to keep.

He came to save the brokenhearted few,

The poor in spirit wretches, and lost sheep.

Why seek a doctor when you think you’re well?

You’ve got no need of healing anyway.

But you’ve a cancer driving you to hell:

Its name is sin; it’s killing you today.

The Holy Spirit’s telling you you’re sick;

You need the Great Physician Jesus quick!
