9-3-15 Here We Go

⁹ That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:

¹⁰ Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

¹¹ Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

Isaiah 30:9-11

The day has come when evil’s in full bloom,

Completely unafraid of consequence,

Destroying children in their mother’s womb

And lacking any hint of moral sense.

The leaders of the earth are fraudulent;

The laws they pass promote such wickedness.

The young walk through the streets so discontent,

With heads replete with rage and wild distress.

The truth is now despised, it’s lies they want,

And any talk of God is shouted down.

The reprobate advance the cause they flaunt

While running God’s own children in the ground.

The day has come upon us, rife with sin,

But Christ is our Commander – we will win.

8-25-15 Out of the Mouth

Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man;

but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

Bad food and drink can make a person ill,

But he’s the only one confined to bed.

It’s what comes from the mouth more loathsome still

That will defile a man the most instead.

‘Tis sin that lays in wait within the heart

And moves on through the mind and then the lips

That truly stains the soul and tears apart;

Each word that’s laced with evil sin equips.

It takes a heart made fresh to stop the flood

Of all the wickedness men say and do.

The only way is through Christ’s cleansing blood

To purify the soul with life anew.

A man defiled will speak such wicked things.

The cure for this disease is Christ the King.

3-25-15 God, You are Holy

O Lord, my God, You’re holy, good and just;

There is not any wickedness in You.

You have no room for those who say they must,

No matter the excuse or point of view.

Sometime You do permit a sin to flower,

Although there is no pleasure on Your part,

To magnify Your Mercy, Grace and Power

To bring us to salvation in Your heart.

You loved us though we once were sinners lost;

That’s why You sent Your Son, a sinless man,

Becoming sin itself, His life the cost

To bring about Your perfect, steadfast plan.

There is no evil that can dwell with You.

With gratitude I worship You anew!

1-13-15 God or Bust

Unless the Lord is present count it dead

Whatever that is built with human hands;

It may exist a thousand years ahead

But might as well be built with desert sand.

A city that’s forgotten God is doomed

Like Sodom and Gormorrah full of sin;

Then soon by wickedness it is consumed,

As dead inside as though it’s never been.

Invite the Lord to sanction all you do,

And let His Spirit guide your heart and mind;

The earthly things that honor God are true,

And all without His love will fall behind.

Let God build both your church and family,

And everywhere you go, there He will be.

10-30-14 Not Flesh and Blood

The battle’s not with flesh but for the soul,

Against an enemy with cunning wiles,

An evil set to wrestle for control

With arguments and force or charm and smiles.

He wants to take your friends and family,

Your church, your neighborhood, your country, too.

There is one thing that you can both agree:

The time grows short; there’s much work left to do.

Don’t take this foe for granted; don’t you sleep!

The battle’s now; keep God’s whole armor on!

With prayer within your heart and courage keep;

With Jesus by your side success is drawn!

The rulers of the darkness of this world

Don’t stand a chance; let Christ’s whole flag unfurl!
