8-26-15 Give and Give

Give to him that asketh thee,

and from him that would borrow of thee

turn not thou away.

A constant pouring out of love to life,

Not born of duty or of laws enslaved,

Not subject to a custom, stale and rife.

The heart of Christ provides to all that needs

Without a thought of getting something back.

The hand of Christ is busy doing deeds,

For what He has He gives to those who lack.

To those who ask deliver what you can;

To those who wish to borrow, them you lend.

The grace that you exhibit once began

With God whose love we cannot comprehend.

Don’t turn away the beggar, but recall

Christ died for that man, too; He gave His all.

1-2-15 Take Refuge

If life has thrown you down to trample on,

If everything you do just makes things worse,

If you are at your end and hope is gone,

Take refuge in the Lord, He’s not adverse.

If peace and plenty seem so far away,

If others beat you up and tear you down,

Take refuge in the Lord, He holds your crown.

If all your worries follow you around,

The news each day is filled with hate and greed;

The leaders of the land evade and lie;

No matter where you go they all have need

To reach into your pocket, slick and sly.

And worst of all, you too have joined the crowd;

Your anger’s like a cloud around your head.

The wish for more and more is clear and loud;

You lie and cheat and steal your way ahead.

O friend! Repent right now and turn away!

This world of flesh and sin will bring you down!

Get on your knees this second, start to pray,

And give your life to Christ before you drown!

To separate yourself from sin and death

You must cede all to Jesus with each breath.

Your will is my delight, O Lord above!

Each waking is a trek through Your desire!

I stroll through the sweet garden of Your love

And feel Your spirit’s power draw me higher.

Dear Abba, Your instruction rests within

The inner sanctum of my eager heart.

I see at once the way I should begin

And move with confidence right from the start.

I surely know Your voice and heed Your call

Because I long to please Your ev’ry wish.

My God! This child of Yours does give my all,

And with Your happiness will come my bliss!

This ecstasy can’t help but overflow
