2-11-16 Coming to Know Christ

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Through study of the scriptures every day,

And feel His spirit with you as you dwell

Upon the word of God and as you pray.

But words are merely symbols on a page

Until they come alive within the heart.

God’s gifts of grace release them from their cage:

With faith and hope and love does grace impart.

The knowledge of our Lord and Savior grows

As all these gifts of grace mature and thrive.

You come to be more like Christ and it shows;

The things you say and do proves He’s alive.

In knowledge and in grace your soul implores,

To Jesus be the glory evermore!

1-15-16 The Tick Behind the Talk

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

A man will make a statement through his tongue,

But what he thinks may be another thing.

Beware the motives that his lie has sprung,

Lest somewhere down the road you’ll feel its sting.

When Jesus walked the earth he always knew

The real intent within each person’s heart.

Discretion comes from knowing what is true,

And truth’s the Word of God that won’t depart.

The more you pray the more God’s wisdom will be known,

For half of prayer is listening patiently,

And through the mind of Christ you will be shown

The mainspring of a man; yea, more than he.

When you’re connected to the Word of God,

You will not be distracted by a fraud.

12-11-15 True Unbelievers

⁴⁵ And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. ⁴⁶ Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? ⁴⁷ He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

TRUE UNBELIEVERS

Some people will not hear the Word of God

No matter how they’re told or what is said.

You will not be believed and called a fraud,

As if you were the one with the thick head.

Forgive them for they know not what they do;

There is no spark of Spirit in their heart.

You speak the truth until your face is blue;

They’ll take your words and tear them all apart.

It’s more than just resistance to the Word;

How well you know, you’ve turned it down before.

You might as well be talking to a bird;

The Holy Ghost will tell you Try no more.

The Lamb of God was sinless yet accused;

Beware the ones who want you so abused.

11-16-15 The Word of God Goes Forth

¹⁰ For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

¹¹ So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Descending from the heavens to begin

His reign of grace and love to all that hear.

The presence of the Lord did walk the earth,

When God said “BE” the universe emerged,

And how much more His Word within your heart!

Now open up your mouth as Spirit urged

And let His Word go forth with love impart.

God loved the world so much He gave His Son;

His blood like rain brings life to everyone.

8-2-15 Pass Away

Heaven and earth shall pass away:

but my words shall not pass away.

Mark 13:31 KJV

Will cease to parch the lips and burn the skin,

And on the earth calamities are done:

No hurricanes, tornados found therein.

The heaven and the earth shall pass away,

And all the things that sin has surely wrought,

The Word of God eternal ne’er forgot.

The words of Jesus lived before the stars,

And they shall live in New Jerusalem.

There will be no more pain and no more scars,

And no more need to make it ‘us’ and ‘them.’

His words forever stamped upon our hearts

For we’re His words in action to impart.

4-17-15 Who’s a Believer?

The preacher speaks about the Word of God,

On how the Savior died for all our sin.

I look around the church and see heads nod

And wonder who believes and thus are in.

I feel a gentle stir within me start,

That old familiar nudge the Spirit gives,

And Jesus whispers in my soul and heart,

Then I rejoice again to know He lives!

‘Don’t try to guess who has been saved or not,

For you don’t know who hears Me and believes.

Just spread the gospel – I discern who’s caught.

The Spirit sees what senses can’t perceive.’

It’s not our job to guess who has been saved,

Whose name is in the Book of Life engraved.

8-12-14 The Word of God

The word of God is precious to the soul,

A pearl so pure its price cannot be set,

And hid within the heart it takes control,

An antidote for sin whenever met.

When mixed with faith, the word becomes a shield,

Deflecting all assaults from Satan’s sword,

And kept within the mind the word’s revealed,

A map to lead the soul to wisdom stored.

The scriptures do attest to Christ throughout;

From Genesis to Revelation He’s shown,

The Way to Heaven’s gate without a doubt,

To gather all God’s children to His throne.

The word of God, a living water pure,

The Holy Spirit’s voice that will endure.
